Contains the following types of materials: photographs, photo album. Covers the following war: World War I (WWI). Contains photographs of the following military unit: 27th Division; Troop E, 1st New York Cavalry. General description of the collection: The Dorothy Castle photograph collection consists of two small photo albums dealing mostly with training and camp activities of Troop E, 1st New York Cavalry Regiment, prior to going overseas which comprise the bulk of this collection. In one of the albums, there are also photos of troops on board troop ships at New York harborand at sea. There are only a very few photos of the unit in France. Also included is a large photo of a "Living Insignia" of the 27th Division.
